              Mailbox Rental Identification Requirements

              ​

              To open a mailbox at Sound Postal, the U.S. Postal Service requires all customers to complete USPS Form 1583 and present two valid, unexpired forms of identification:

              • One Photo ID (Box 8 requirement)

              • One Address ID (Box 9 requirement)

              Your two IDs cannot be the same type of ID. For example, you cannot use a driver’s license for both categories.

              1. Acceptable Photo ID

              Your photo ID must include your name, ID number, issuing authority, and expiration date.


              Approved forms include:

              • U.S. state driver’s license or non-driver ID

              • Uniformed service ID

              • U.S. Access Card

              • U.S. university ID card

              • Passport

              • Nexus card

              • Permanent resident card

              • Certificate of naturalization

              • Matricula Consular

              2. Acceptable Address-Verifying ID 

              Your address ID must show your full name and current physical residential address.


              Approved forms include:

              • U.S. state driver’s license or non-driver ID (may only be used for one category — not both)

              • Current lease

              • Home or vehicle insurance policy

              • Mortgage or deed of trust

              • Vehicle registration card

              • Voter card

              Important Notes

              • Both IDs must be current and not expired.

              • Your two IDs cannot both be a driver’s license.

              • Your address must reflect where you currently live (no P.O. boxes).

              • These requirements apply to all mailbox rentals under USPS regulations.

              Box Sizes and Pricing 

              Sound Postal offers one mailbox size (Medium only). Pricing is based on weekly package volume (not including mail):

              • Up to 10 packages per week: $35/month

              • 11–20 packages per week: $40/month

              • 21+ packages per week: $45/month

              Mail Service will monitor weekly package volume. Customer(s) agrees to pricing adjustments based on usage.
